Sunday Stillness - May 14th Lean In
Happy Sunday!
I trust everyone had a great week and is ready to kick off their next week!
Last week was about shining moments that scare you witless, well…that summed up my week for sure. Kicked off my Sunday Stillness email, had awkward work events, was live on Instagram for the first time, and was asked by my day job to facilitate an Intro to Meditation for the entire organization. WOAH!
All of these shining moments created major false fears for me. What are false fears? I learned this phrase from a book I am currently reading; “The Fear Cure: Cultivating Courage as Medicine for the Body, Mind and Soul” by Dr. Lissa Rankin. False fears are something your small self (ego) creates to try to protect itself; to keep you from doing something your true self is suppose to do. What Dr. Rankin shares in her book is how we can lean in into these false fears and ultimately cure us by opening our eyes to all that needs healing.
I honored her wisdom this week and leaned in too all my false fears. One major lesson learned; I’m going to create a new word (merging two words into one word is a fad right now right…might as well join the party); my word is comptience (compassion/patience)
The Webster dictionary defines patience as the capacity to accept or tolerate delay, trouble or suffering without getting angry or upset. Compassion is someone showing kindness, caring and willingness to help others. Why not combine the two words and really lean in (compitience) for yourself and others, after all, we are all doing the best we can.
Lean In- such a great phrase. Thank you, Sheryl Sandberg for socializing it. I know it is on the brink of being over used; but I just love it. Let's take a moment of stillness andclose our eyes and take a deep cleansing breath in…..and out….. and then silently repeat to yourself - lean In.
What did you feel, what did you see yourself leaning-in to? Hit reply and share with me; I would love to hear from you.
Let’s see what else we can lean-in to this week. Our fears, careers, relationships, health, passions….
I look forward to connecting with you next week and hearing about how you leaned in.
Oh, and I have a couple of announcements....
Happy HAPPY Mother’s day to all you moms out there (including my fur moms)!
I will also be hosting a virtual Intro to Meditation this week; if you are interested please sign up at:
https://eastwestintegrated.com/courses/learn-how-to-meditate/
It’s a one hour class where I will share, what meditation is, what it isn’t and teach a silent mantra breath awareness technique.
See you in the gap (or in the cloud),
Kimberly
