Sunday Stillness and the Dentist

Wow…where did that week go?  It’s Sunday, yea…happy Sunday Stillness!

Thank you to those of you who shared with me how they leaned in to their false fears last week.  Congratulations!  Virtual High Five!!

This week was definitely a blur; but there was one day that stood out among the rest. My Dentist appointment (or what I like to call my biannual flossing day); as I was laying in that dentist chair, I was contemplating how I could bring stillness to situation.

Don’t we all need a little stillness while in the dentist chair?

Not only did I find some stillness, but realized how we can bring our biannual dental experience into our everyday lives.  You’re probably thinking…no way do I want to do that.  That is not my favorite experience.  Hear me out.

What is one of the first things we do during this dreadful appointment?  We lean back in the dentist chair and trust.  Last week was about leaning in to our false fears; this week lets take what we learned and lean back into trust.

When we are in the dentist chair we put a lot of faith and trust in to their hands; but we pay the price…we become tense, we have some anxiety, we feel vulnerable due to the loss of control and we spend the whole time counting the minutes until its over.  All the while trying to visualize what exactly are they doing in our mouths.

I mean seriously….how much more can they get in there?  There is one finger holding your cheek open, they are scraping your teeth with a tool in their other hand (which sound like nails on a chalk board), the thing that sucks up your saliva is hanging on the bottom part of your lip. Every once in a while they stop scraping to rinse what ever just fell off from the scraping. YUM!

But…there is trust; we know we are going to be okay.  We trust the process; thus we are comfortable with the uncomfortable.

What if we could bring this into our daily lives?  Leaning back and trusting the process?  Being comfortable with the uncomfortable because we know we are going to be okay?

Would we have less stress, less worry? What true aspects of ourselves would be unveiled? How would we feel if nothing was holding us back from living our bravest life?

Let's lean back and trust the process this week and give it a shot.

Let’s see what happens!

Cheers to trust!

Kimberly

Oh, be sure to catch me live Wednesday on Instagram at 5:30 pm (pst).  I’ll be sharing how leaning back and trusting the process is going for me.
